RT @lichfieldbaker @christianwolmar @GarethDennis The post says that the slave-owner compensation contributed between 0.1 and 1.0 million to the railways. My gut feeling is it is closer to the former. Whether or not this is significant in comparison to the 30 million capital level by 1840 is a value judgement for others
