DESCRIPTION:"The "Watercress Line Croydon Regional Group" supports the W
 atercress line heritage steam railway\, which runs some 10 miles between A
 lton and Alresford in Hampshire. The railway was closed by British Railway
 s in 1973\, but was reopened by volunteers partially in 1977 and then in 1
 985 all the way to interface with SWR trains at Alton station. You can rea
 ch Alton station from East Croydon with one change of train at Clapham J
 n.\n\nThe Croydon Regional Group who have monthly meetings on the first 
 Monday of each month\, and we meet at 7.30 PM in the crypt at St Mary Magd
 alene with St Martin church in Canning Road\, Croydon CRO 6QD. Lebanon R
 oad tram stop is a short walk away and it is on a number of bus routes als
 o.\n\nHere we have talks/digital presentations on a great variety of railw
 ay subjects.\n\nOur next meeting is Monday 6th October when we have a pre
 sentation by Christian Wolmar entitled "The Liberation Line"\, the story o
 f the railway men who rebuilt railways in Europe after D Day.\n\nIf you wo
